Block Assembly

If you would like to share your finished quit tops, I love you to submit pictures and I'll share them on this blog.

The majority of the strips required for assembly will need to be two pieces sewn together to be long enough.

Of the backround/sashing fabric, you will need:
A-     6 pieces of 2.5”x 14.5”
B-      4 pieces of 2.5”x 46.5”
C-      2 pieces of 2.5”x 50.5”
Of the border fabric, you will need
D-     2 pieces of 4.5”x 50.5”
E-      2 pieces of 4.5”x 58.5”

Begin by laying out your blocks in a 3x3 pattern in a manner that you are happy with how they look together. I just did them in order.

Take two of the pieces of 2.5”x 14.5” sashing (A) and sew them between the three blocks of the first row, so that it makes one continuous row. Repeat with second and third rows.

Sew a piece of the 2.5”x 46.5” sashing (B) onto the top of each of the three rows you just assembled.

Sew the last piece of the sashing of that length to the bottom of the third row. Then sew the second row to the first, and the third to the second so that all the rows are one big piece.

Take the two 2.5”x 50.5” pieces (C) and sew them to the right and left sides of assembled rows.

Sew the two shorter pieces of border fabric (D) to the top and bottom ends of the quilt.

Then sew the longer border pieces (E) to the left and right sides.

That’s it. All done.
